The Victoria handyDART Transit Centre located in View Royal, BC supports inclusive public transportation services for people with disabilities. The Victoria handyDART Transit Centre includes the construction of an operations and maintenance centre with administrative spaces. There is a transit yard to accommodate 110 custom transit buses with five maintenance bays, temporary on-site fueling, automated bus wash, and a service island. The site will initially serve a mix fleet of gas and electric vehicles. It will eventually transition to servicing a fully electric bus fleet. The centre will be the first BC Transit facility in BC built to achieve LEED® Gold requirements. The project represents a significant step forward in the electrification of BC Transit’s fleet on Vancouver Island.
