Shell Place Project

Description

Canem provided design assist & electrical communications contracting services for the Shell Place expansion at McDonald Island Park which transformed a fixed-seat stadium into a multi-purpose facility that can grow to 20,000 seats for concerts and other special events. The project featured an outdoor football field complete with grandstands and private suites for view, a baseball field, and all associated locker rooms. There is an outdoor performance stage, a football stadium, a 1,700-seat baseball park built to professional league standards, two amateur-level baseball/softball parks, a field house with an indoor soccer field and badminton courts, a community hub space, an art gallery, and banquet and conference facilities, all connected to the nearby Suncor Leisure Centre by a pedestrian link.

Work also included renovations to and expansion of the Total Fitness Centre within the Suncor Leisure Centre Shell Place which features; an indoor field house for soccer, football or rugby, the field house also has a separate section with 4 dedicated badminton courts.
