Abcellera Evans GMP

Description

AbCellera Evans is a four-storey Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Facility and will be one of the largest GMP facilities in Vancouver. Level one is the parkade. Level two locates the GMP Manufacturing facility and lab area. Level three consists of office space, and level four has a rooftop patio, garden, and seating for a barbecue.

The new GMP facility will consist of cleanroom manufacturing suites comprised of highly specialized pre fabricated modular units. The facility will include designated equipment, and the necessary Quality Systems required to produce complex protein therapeutics as well as allow for next-generation biotherapeutics, notably cell and gene therapies and/or nucleic acid therapeutics/vaccines. The sophisticated mechanical and electrical systems in the labs makes this project unique in its complexity.

Canem was responsible for all electrical, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, security, and communications systems. This facility is designed with two (2) 1.5MW generators (Natural gas) to fully run the facility in-case of BC Hydro power outage. UPS system was installed to ensure no downtime on critical equipment as well as network systems.

Lighting was designed in all labs for precise tasks with fully automated controls to reduce lighting when not required. System was fully automated and changes could be made by the owner after completion. Abcellera was fully 3D modeled to ensure all systems “fit” together prior to installation so ensure schedule was maintained.
